Ryan LA-T 'Twin Spirit'

The Ryan Model LA-T Twin Spirit resulted from a publicity stunt initiated by the Los Angeles Times in 1931 when they attempted to get Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart to cross together the Pacific from L.A. to Tokyo in a twin-fuselage version of the famous Model NY-P Spirit of Saint-Louis.

Although both aviators initially agreed to the project, and although the prototype was flown a few times, it eventually fell apart when Earhart the loner changed her mind and failed to sign the contact with the L.A. Times to set off on another solo flight instead...
